The Blue Ridge Mountains
The Blue Ridge Mountains make up a lot of Northeast Georgia. They are Georgia's highest mountain range. The blue ridge mountains rise up to more than 4,000 ft. Blue Ridge gets its name because of its peaks and ridges; they appear to be wrapped in a soft blue haze. It forms a drainage dividing line, that is called the Eastern Continental Divide, which separates rivers flowing Eastward into the Atlantic Ocean from those flowing Westward to the Gulf Of Mexico.
