Subjunctive mood
A subjunctive mood expresses a doubtful condition, and is mostly starts with a "if".
1. If I were you, I wouldn't touch that
2. If I were you, I would change my mind.
A subjunctive mood also is found in sentences containing words such as ask, recommend, suggest, wish, insist, order, command, request, and demand. They also have to have the correct form of verb after them.
1. I wish I could have all the joy in the world.
2. I recommend taking the test over again.
3. My suggestion is that everyone cooperate.
4. Incorrect: If I was you, I would run.
Correct: If I were you, I would run.
