Fall line
The Fall line is found in the center of Georgia. That is why we have a north and south Georgia. It separates the piedmont region from the coastal plain. The fall line got its name because it has a dramatic drop in elevation. They were also a barrier when the Europeans came. One side could not get to the other. Sandy soils rule the south side of the fall line, while clay soil rule the north side. Wide floodplains have developed on the south side, and narrow stream valleys are found in the north. the fall line also separates animals and plant. Each region has a different variety of plants and animals.
