British in Georgia
English Settlement was probably the most devastating time for Native Americans because most of their loved ones died because of European diseases that they had no cure for. It did not help when the British moved in. But this time, it was even worse. The British started trading with the Native Americans. It was guns for..... SLAVES!! The people who traded slaves were called the Indian slave raiders. They kidnapped women and children and sold them of for there own purposes. This resulted in many Indian groups moving away from the raiders to protect themselves. Some groups became extinct, and those that were left found themselves part of the slave trade. Iroquois slave raiders struck everywhere, looking for someone that they could sell for greedy reasons. Many groups started banding together. The groups were the Catawba, Chickasaw, Choctaw. The Upper Creek and the Lower Creek joined together to form the Creek Confederacy. The societies revolted against the slave trade. This came to be called the Yamasee War. The war helped redirect the English traders from slaves to white tailed deer.
